Yellow Jackets Conclude Impressive Season in HCAC Tournament

CINCINNATI, OHIO - Despite bowing out of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament the Purple and Gold capped off an impressive season sending seven seniors out in style on Friday evening at Mount St. Joseph.

The Yellow Jackets fell in a battle with Anderson 4-2 finishing the season at 21-18 overall under first year head coach Megan Warren.

The Ravens scored first in the contest as they plated two runs in top the of the first and one in the third inning to claim the 3-0 advantage.

However, Defiance looked to rally as sophomore Arianna Richards (Covington) connected for a lead off single before freshman Kalin Hubble (Anderson, Ind.) drew a walk and stole second placing Yellow Jackets in scoring position.

Senior Michaela Bauer (Hicksville) would provide the clutch hit on the next at bat as she doubled to right center scoring two DC runners to pull within 3-2.

Anderson halted the rally and was able to add an insurance run in the top of the fifth and pitch out of a bases loaded jam to claim the victory.

The Purple and Gold finished the season ranked fourth in the HCAC and made their third straight Tournament appearance.
