Defiance Baseball Announces Youth Camp Schedule

DEFIANCE, OHIO -- Head Coach Derek Woodley and the Defiance College baseball program have announced the dates for their youth clinics for the winter months.

Over the holiday break, DC will host a pair of holiday hitting clinics as well as a skills camps on December 27 and 28. The hitting clinics are scheduled for 1-3 p.m. on December 27 and 28, while the skills camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on December 28. Each of these camps are offered at a reduced rate of $30 apiece to ease the financial burden of the holiday season and will take place inside the George M. Smart Center. 

Entering into January, the baseball program will host a three-day hitting camp on three consecutive Sundays. On January 14, 21, and 28 from 3-5 p.m., those in grades 3-12 can prepare for the upcoming season with six hours of hitting instruction. By enrolling in the Hitting School, you will receive extensive instruction and practice by completing a series of drills that will focs on proper technique and fundamentals of hitting. The cost is $30 per single session or $80 to sign up for each of the three sessions. 

On Saturday, February 17 at 12 p.m., DC baseball will host a three-hour instructional camp for for pitchers and catchers. In this time, catchers will receive instruction on receiving, blocking, and throwing techniques while pitchers will go through drills, demonstrations, and lectures about the fundamentals of pitching. The cost of this camp is $45 per person if you pre-register, or $55 as a walk-up registration.

Finally, DC will host a high school prospect camp on Sunday, February 24 from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. for players in grades 10-12. This camp is designed for players who have an interest in playing college baseball and will cover many aspects of the game. Each camper will be evaluated in the areas of running, throwing, fielding, and hitting. The camp will cost $45 per player if pre-registered of $55 to register the day of the camp.

If attending multiple camps, there is a $5 multiple camp discount fee, while there is also a multiple camper discount available for families with multiple players interested in attending the camps. Each of these camps will take place in the George M. Smart Center, where athletes are not permitted to wear cleats. Attending any of these camps will include a camp t-shirt and youth league and high school coaches are welcome to attend.
